SCIENTIFIC METHODS OF HERBAL EXTRACTION

Drug Development through R & D activities is regularly carried by Divya Pharmacy for production of pure and effective, scientifically proved ayurvedic medicines. It has been setup to meet the growing needs of the trust and to serve major parts of society at lower costs. This herbal extraction plant is meant for extracting various herbal medicines and other phytochemicals from various parts of a plant or tree like the leaves, the flowers, the seeds, the barks, the roots, rhizomes and the shrubs.

The salient feature of this plant is the production of medicines using latest technology, under controlled environment conditions of temperature and pressure. The extract concentration is achieved under vacuum drying, preserving the maximum valued contents of the herbs. To put it the other way, this unit extracts the product with maximum recovery of the active ingredients in the extract since thermal degradation is totally avoided by the unique process technology. So that medicines can be marketed at the lower cost INFV 97-98. The balance of herbal wastage will be converted into bio-manure as by product by keeping it in tanks and adding certain chemicals.

This plant is in juvenile stage at present, giving output in the shape of thick viscous liquid of about 50% of raw herbs input in one cycle. To this liquid extract, 'bhasam' or powder of medicinal and aromatic plants or oil is mixed to get the desired tablet or capsule form. The capacity of this plant is to extract app. 10,000 kg raw herbs in a day.
